Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CST/ORT) - Travel Assignment

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Key Requirements

• Experience: Must have Cardio-Thoracic surgical experience (no exceptions)
• Certifications:

  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) Certification (mandatory)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Skills:

  • Excellent documentation skills including BCMA
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Patient Care:

  • Critical Care experience required
  • PreOp experience is a plus

Unit Information

• Unit: Cardiovascular (CV) PreOp, Heart Tower (E Building)
• Beds: 4
• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Staffing: RNs with support from CNC, secretary, manager (shared with CVOR)
• Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• On-Call: Stay late 1-2 times per week
• Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

Procedures and Responsibilities

• Large-bore IV starts
• Chin-to-toe hair removal
• Medication administration
• Skin assessment
• Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
• Transport patients to OR
• Assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep

• Work environment includes a busy robotic surgery program and the only open heart and interventional cardiology program in the region
• The hospital is a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and Level III neonatal intensive care unit
