• Unit: Neuroscience/Neuro Progressive Post Surgical Unit (5th Floor)
• Number of Openings: 2
• Shift: PM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: 72 hours over 6 weeks
• Call Requirements: None
• Float Requirements: As needed
• Patient Population: Adult / Geriatrics
• Number of Beds: 20
• Patient Ratios: 5:1
• Equipment Used: Masimo vital sign monitors, Zoll devices
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in Neuro specialty
• Must Have Skills/Experience:

  • Teamwork
  • Neuro experience
  • NIHSS proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership skills

Common Diagnoses/Treatments

• Stroke
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Altered Mental Status (AMS)
• Brain cancer
• Spine and neck surgery
• Craniotomy

  • Scrub color: Any (no cartoons)
  • Unacceptable attire: Nurse-style sweatshirts with no hoods, nurse t-shirts on Fridays and weekends

Additional Notes

• Orientation occurs twice monthly
• Facility includes specialized centers such as Brain Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, Lung Center, Orthopedics, General & Vascular Surgery, Surgical Weight Loss, Women’s Center, and Level 3 NICU
• No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position
