Travel RN Opportunity – Gastroenterology (Endoscopy)
Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- Level III Trauma Center with 198 beds
- Main Endoscopy Unit (7 beds)
- Patient Population: Adults – Mid to High Acuity
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Equipment: Olympus
- EHR System: Cerner
- Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Weekend and evening on-call required
- Possible float to PreOp if low Endoscopy cases
Position Details
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Surgical Tech
- Specialty: Gastroenterology (Pre/Intra/Post Procedure)
- Number of Openings: 3
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 40
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Required Years of Experience: 3 years in specialty
- Prior travel experience: Not specified (assumed not required)
Required Skills & Experience
Must have intra-procedural level experience in Gastroenterology
Procedural Tech experience is a must
Must have at least a 3.2 overall rating on skills checklist
Critical procedural skills to demonstrate:
- Biopsy (Hot and Cold)
- Savary Dilatation
- Balloon Dilatation
- Variceal Banding
- Therapeutic Injection, Polyp Raising, & Tattooing
- Foreign Body Retrieval (Roth net and Rat tooth)
- Clip Application
- Snare (Hot and Cold)
- Prechel Pressure
- ERCP procedures including Cannulization, Biliary Duct Dilation, Lithotripsy, Stent Placement, Sphincterotomy, Balloon Sweep, Basket Retrieval, Injection of Contrast
- Endoscopic Hemostat
- Argon Plasma Coagulation
- Minnesota Tube placement
Non-critical skills (minimal prompting):
- Proactively assist other team members
- Troubleshoot equipment and supplies
Common Diagnoses/Treatments
- Colonoscopy
- EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
- Bronchoscopy
Education Requirements
- RN degree for Registered Nurses
- Certified Surgical Technology Program for Surgical Techs
Additional Notes
- May be required to float to PreOp if Endoscopy caseload is low
- Weekend and evening call required
