Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Overview

Travel assignment in Wilson, North Carolina
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch
Weekly hours: 40
Weekend hours: 0
Call required: No
Orientation is bi-weekly

Required Qualifications

Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in North Carolina
Cath Lab Technologist (2 years of experience)
Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
RRT or RCIS
Radiologic Technologist or Registered Cardiac Interventional Specialist credential

Preferred Experience

Meditech experience
Cath lab scrub experience
PCI and peripheral intervention experience

Work Setting

Adult and geriatric patient population
1-lab cath lab
1:1 patient ratio

Equipment includes GE Innova X-ray and Merge Hemo

Pros

Doctors and most of staff are nice. Surgeries are not hard.

Cons

No staff so a lot of call. You will be on call within your first week or two, even if you don't know how to do anything. Unorganized. The director and supervisor don't know anything about the OR nor are they helpful. New staff are not properly trained. Everything falls on the OR nurse to do. They preop in house patients getting surgery. A couple of OR staff are bullies and lazy, they all think they are the boss. They tell the charge nurse what they are going to do and not going to do. Its like high school all over. Had to leave out of fear for my license.
