Job Details

Position: Radiation Therapist
Specialty: Radiation Oncology
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36-40
Weekend Hours: None
Call Requirements: None

Facility & Location Overview

Level III trauma center with 198 beds
Services include medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth, cancer, nephrology, pediatric, behavioral health, day surgery, imaging, and lab testing
Located in the San Juan River Valley, northwest New Mexico
Area offers outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, off-roading, and proximity to national parks

Required Qualifications

Valid Radiation Therapist license in New Mexico
Minimum 2 years of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy (ARRT (T))
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Department: Radiation Therapy/Oncology
Equipment: Varian Edge LINAC
Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
Patient Population: Geriatric and adult cancer patients
No float or weekend requirements

Additional Notes

Education must be from an accredited radiation therapy program

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
