Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Work in a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department with 48 beds (including flex space)
Patient ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Minimum of two weekends scheduled per contract
No call requirements
Team nursing and Pod System model
Patient population includes ESRD, Cirrhosis, COPD, Psychiatric cases

Required Certifications

ACLS (American Heart Association)
PALS (American Heart Association)
BLS (American Heart Association)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course, AHA)

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in New Mexico
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Current ACLS, PALS, BLS (issued by American Heart Association), and TNCC certifications
Experience with Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and Moderate Sedation

Equipment and Technology

Zoll Defibrillator
Level One Blood Transfuser
QinFlow Blood Warmer
Hospira Plum360 infusion pump
Freestyle and iSTAT point-of-care testing devices
Ultrasound Guided IV placement
Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Additional Information

Rapid start required: must be able to start within 10 business days of offer acceptance
No float requirements
Social worker assigned to department
Unit educator available

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
