Registered Nurse - Med Surg/Telemetry

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

A regional hospital in the White Mountains of Arizona is seeking a Med Surg/Telemetry travel nurse. This role involves working on a 24-bed MedSurg unit with telemetry capability on all beds, with a strong focus on neuro and cardiac skills. The patient population is adults; pediatric patients are assigned to permanent staff.

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts
• 36-hour guarantee with up to 3 cancellations allowed
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:5 during the day
  • 1:6 at night
• Float to all Med Surg units and ICU (handling Med Surg overflow patients)

Unit Support & Environment

• Telemetry techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTs available for support
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory therapist and pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit
• EMR system: Sunrise Allscripts
• Scrub color: any color except all black (scrubs not provided)

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
• PALS certification preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Strong neuro and cardiac nursing skills are essential
• Pediatric patients are not assigned to travelers
• Nurse managers do not provide direct patient care but perform rounds
