Registered Nurse (Med Surg/Tele) – Nights

Location: Middletown, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Med Surg/Telemetry RN for night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) on a 12-hour schedule. The position requires working every other weekend including Sundays and holidays. The role involves caring for general medical patients on a 26-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:7-8 at night.

Schedule & Hours

• 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours guaranteed, overtime after 48 hours)
• Every other weekend and holiday required, including Sundays
• Lunch breaks are unpaid
• No blocked schedules available

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required (not suitable for first-time travelers)
• Valid Connecticut RN license
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Experience with both EPIC and Cerner electronic health records required
• Must be able to work 48 hours per week
• Must be willing to work every other weekend including Sundays
• No local travelers allowed (must live more than 50 miles away)

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Cannot hold another job while on assignment
• Must be able to start on specified orientation dates and have minimal return-to-office (RTO) requests, especially within the first two weeks
• Uniform: Caribbean blue scrub tops (black or white shirts allowed underneath), pants may be black or Caribbean blue
• Nurses perform respiratory treatments; CPAP use limited to nighttime only
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7; IV team available 7 AM – 8:30 PM with nurse resource support overnight
• Charge nurse shared with adjacent unit
• Floor-specific orientation lasts 2 shifts

• Nurse aides available at a ratio of 1:8
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Days 1:3-4, Nights 1:7-8

This opportunity is ideal for experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, weekend coverage, and electronic health record systems EPIC and Cerner.
