Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Medford, Oregon
Job Details
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Location: Medford, Oregon
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12 hours per shift, approximately 36 hours per week
- Orientation:
- 2 days nursing orientation
- 2 days Epic training
- 1 week unit-based orientation (FBC unit) as needed
- 1 day orientation to each sister unit (Postpartum, Pediatrics, NICU)
- 12-hour night shifts every other week required during orientation
Unit Overview
- Care for high-risk labor and antepartum patients, including those with epidurals, insulin drips, IV magnesium, and preterm labor.
- Duties include circulating in the OR and serving as baby nurse at delivery.
- Float assignments to Women & Children’s units such as NICU, Pediatrics, and Postpartum (FNB) with lower acuity patients.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN standards: typically 1 laboring patient per nurse and 2-3 antepartum patients per nurse.
- OB hospitalist available 24/7; break nurse and resource nurse scheduled for support.
- OB Scrub Techs available on unit.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (or equivalent)
Equipment & Systems
- Electronic medical record system: Epic
- Medication dispensing system: Omnicell
Additional Information
- Local candidates are not accepted; a 50-mile radius restriction applies.
- Client may cancel assignment up to 24 hours prior during the 13-week contract.
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation during the first work week; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
- Dress code: Hospital scrubs for Labor & Delivery; personal scrubs allowed for Postpartum unit.
This position is ideal for experienced L&D nurses comfortable with high-risk patients and flexible to float to related units. Night shift availability and required certifications are essential.
