Surgical Tech - California (Travel Assignment)

Job Details

Location: Santa Cruz, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evenings (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM)
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Unit: Operating Room (OR)
Bed Count: 7 total (1 heart room, 6 general)
Shift Length: 10-hour shifts (call available for night shift)
Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends and weekend call
Holidays: On-call required
Orientation: 1 week floor-specific orientation

Patient & Work Environment

Common Patient Types: Similar to Pre-op patients, including endoscopy and interventional radiology cases
Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:1
EMR System: Cerner - Surginet
Equipment:
- Telemetry monitors: Phillips
- Ventilators: Draeger
Support Staff: Nurse aides, surgical techs, anesthesia techs
Anesthesiology Coverage: 3 anesthesiologists available
Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage
Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage

Required Qualifications

Specialty: OR Tech / Surgical Tech
Experience: Minimum 2 years in OR Tech role
Certifications:
- Active BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred/required for techs
COVID-19 Vaccine: Required (with certification)

Additional Information

Scrub color provided
Charge Nurse serves as clinical coordinator
No floating required
