Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Adult Chemical Dependency Unit

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)


Job Description

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care on the Adult Chemical Dependency Unit.
  • Conduct thorough admission interviews and systematic physical assessments.
  • Assess patient needs and coordinate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop, implement, and revise patient care plans.
  • Document patient conditions, care provided, and patient responses.
  • Perform patient education and facilitate group sessions.
  • Float to Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units as needed.

Patient Population

  • Patients aged 15 and older.
  • Common diagnoses include physiological dependency on alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and other drugs.
  • Many patients have associated psychiatric diagnoses such as depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.

Requirements

  • Behavioral Health nursing experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • CPI certification required.
  • Must be trained and competent in:
    • Application of restraints
    • Implementation of seclusion
    • Monitoring and care of patients in restraint or seclusion
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
  • Must not be a previous employee of the facility.
  • Candidates with licensure or background issues will not be considered.

Additional Information

  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
  • The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
