Nurse Manager - Complex (OR RN Manager)

Location: Lafayette, Colorado

Job Summary

This role involves managing and supervising nursing departments, collaborating with nursing leaders and other facility managers to ensure excellent patient care, achieve financial objectives, and foster leadership development. The Nurse Manager is responsible for developing departmental structure, processes, and outcome standards, typically for one unit.

  • Level 1 Nurse Manager: Manages fewer than 50 staff or a department operating Monday through Friday.
  • Level 2 Nurse Manager - Complex: Manages more than 50 staff or multiple departments and oversees a department operating 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the clinical nursing environment and contribute to strategic planning, day-to-day operations, and standards of care.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving, advocate for resources, promote shared decision-making, and implement organizational vision and values.
  • Manage budgets, employee engagement, recruitment, retention, and competency verification.
  • Ensure nursing care is efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate, aligned with current practice standards.
  • Contribute departmental perspectives to executive decisions and keep staff informed of executive activities.
  • Assist with development and management of annual capital, operating, and personnel budgets.
  • Model professionalism and foster employee engagement.
  • Ensure sufficient and competent staffing to meet patient care needs, including hiring, orientation, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Provide mentorship and professional educational opportunities; ensure new skill training and ongoing competency verification annually.
  • Evaluate staff competency through performance and peer reviews.
  • Coordinate compliance with patient safety initiatives and regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DOPL, and others.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, financial acumen, clinical knowledge, resource management, patient safety, mentorship, and community outreach skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree verification required).

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.
  • Valid compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of employment start.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Preferred

  • Specialty certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in oversight roles.
