Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Provides patient and family education, comfort, and satisfaction.
- Mentors and precepts staff members.
- Participates in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts and complies with regulatory standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Facilitate and evaluate patient and family education during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in practice governance.
Shift Details
- Mid shift: 10:00 AM – 10:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Call requirement: 3-5 weeknight call shifts per 6-week schedule (8:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend call: 2-4 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule (single weekend shifts, not full weekends)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care nursing experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
