Job Summary

Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
Applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
Provides patient and family education, comfort, and satisfaction.
Mentors and precepts staff members.
Participates in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts and complies with regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent clinical decisions.
Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized care plans.
Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Facilitate and evaluate patient and family education during stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in practice governance.

Shift Details

Mid shift: 10:00 AM – 10:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
Call requirement: 3-5 weeknight call shifts per 6-week schedule (8:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekend call: 2-4 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule (single weekend shifts, not full weekends)

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Acute care nursing experience
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
