Staff Nurse Emergency Department

Overview

• Location: Johnson City, New York
• Employment type: Clinical nursing
• Shift: Night
• Schedule: 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week, every other weekend
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• ED - Emergency Department (3 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients
• Stroke experience
• Pediatrics experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients
• Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management
• Administer medications safely according to policy
• Support staffing, time management, supplies, and service use
• Participate in shared governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review
• Complete mandatory education and ongoing professional development
• Support new employees and students
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned
