Job Overview
- ICU RNs will float across all ICUs, step-down units, Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), and Emergency Department (ED) for ICU holds/borders.
- May also float to Women’s and Family units; however, assignments in these units will be ICU-focused.
- Orientation provided for Women’s and Family unit assignments.
- Patient ratios will not exceed 1:3 in any unit or hospital.
- Assignments are typically given 24 hours in advance but may change mid-shift to float to other units or hospitals.
- Responsibilities include assessing, implementing, and evaluating patient care under physician direction.
- Collaborates with patients, families, healthcare team members, and directs nursing support staff.
- Professional education, training, or additional certifications may be required depending on specialty area.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Patient care may include complex cases such as preeclampsia, eclampsia, hypertensive mothers, hyperemesis, and postpartum hemorrhage in Women’s and Family units.
- Continuous collaboration and flexibility required due to floating assignments across multiple units.
