Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Every Other Weekend and Holiday)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Work as part of a resource pool supporting patient care needs.

Required Qualifications

Licensure and Education

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience.
• Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience must be within the last year.

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Fit test for respiratory protection.
• Trinity 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (includes specific substances; no THC allowed).
• COVID-19 vaccination proof including booster by September 2025, or approved exemption/declination (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
• Influenza vaccine proof or declination (optional).
• MMR vaccination proof (2 doses or immunity titer).
• Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start.
• Varicella vaccination proof or immunity titer.
• Tdap vaccination (declinations accepted if no pediatric interaction).
• 2-step PPD or IGRA TB test with chest x-ray if positive (per regional requirements).
• Physical/health statement confirming fitness to work within the last year.
• Color vision screening.

Professional and Compliance Requirements

• Signed Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Conflict of Interest Disclosure, Integrity and Audit Services Form, and Non-Employee Upload Form.
• Criminal background check (federal, nationwide, county) covering last 7 years, including SSN verification, dated within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) and OIG (Office of Inspector General) exclusion checks dated within 30 days.
• Joint Commission CORE exam within the past year.
• NSO (National Sex Offender) check dated within 30 days.
• System access form completed and uploaded one week before start.
• Iowa-specific Child and Adult Dependent Abuse Training and registry checks (for Iowa assignments).

Documentation Submission

• Resume and skills checklist within the past year.
• Two professional references.
• All required certifications, licenses, and health documentation must be scanned and uploaded to the credentialing system prior to onboarding.

Additional Notes

• This is a night shift position with every other weekend and holiday coverage.
• The assignment length is approximately 13 weeks.
• The role requires adherence to all health, safety, and professional compliance standards as outlined.
