Pharmacist (Inpatient) - Temp Position

Location: Bad Axe, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Review and interpret electronic physician medication orders to ensure accurate drug selection, safe dosages, and proper administration routes.
• Evaluate patient profiles for allergies, drug interactions, and lab results; perform pharmacokinetic dosing for high-risk medications.
• Prepare and oversee compounding of specialized medications including large-volume parenterals, IV piggybacks, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and chemotherapy infusions following strict sterile guidelines (USP <797>/<800>).
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses during medical rounds to recommend evidence-based therapies and assist in medical emergencies.
• Conduct medication reconciliation at patient admission and provide comprehensive drug counseling upon discharge.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, interns, and students to maintain accurate inventory and medication cart distribution.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of inpatient pharmacist experience.
• Ability to work in an Anticoagulation Clinic managing 4-6 patients per day.
• Experience performing oncology compounding; pharmacists are responsible for all IV compounding.
• Valid pharmacist license for practice in Michigan.
