Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a high acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on oncology patients.
- Floating assignments may include MedSurg and various oncology units such as:
- Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
- Acute Leukemia
- Hematology
- Medical Oncology
- PCU Oncology
- Gynecological Oncology
- Urology
- Colorectal
- Surgical Oncology
- Corrections Healthcare
- Emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention.
- Shift options include days, nights, or rotating 12-hour shifts.
- Staffing ratios typically 1:3 in PCU, can be 1:4 with mixed acuity; MedSurg Telemetry ideally 1:4 but can be 1:5.
- Orientation includes one week of day shift orientation followed by bedside orientation shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Additional Information
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Background and credentialing processes are time-sensitive; fingerprinting must be completed using specific codes and within required timeframes.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
