Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
  • Every fourth weekend required

Job Requirements


Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – may be required depending on unit
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – may be required depending on unit
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – may be required depending on unit
  • Chemotherapy certification required if working in oncology/infusion (ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate)
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI for Behavioral Health)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care case management experience, with experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Experience in an inpatient setting

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • Education verification (official transcript preferred; BSN preferred, ASN minimum)
  • Drug screening within 2 months of start, updated annually (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap vaccination (no exemptions)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required or follow-up antigen titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer required)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions)
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
  • Background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check required for certain units

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific forms and compliance documents prior to start
  • Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, updated annually
