Job Opportunity: Infusion Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, every other weekend coverage
Work Setting: Infusion Center, Outpatient Oncology
Preferred Experience: Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Inpatient Oncology
Job Description
- Clinical Nurse Coordinator role focused on outpatient oncology infusion services.
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
- Must have current District of Columbia RN license at time of application.
- Facility requires annual flu vaccination (or approved exemption).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in District of Columbia.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of infusion nursing experience, including infusion experience within the last year.
- Oncology nursing experience.
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Skills in biotherapy and chemotherapy administration.
- Proficient in IV therapy and infusions.
- Competent in medication administration.
- Skilled in management of oncologic emergencies.
- Experience administering IV push narcotic agents.
- Knowledgeable in isolation and neutropenic precautions.
- Proficient in symptom management.
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state and federal searches.
- Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and varicella immunity
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations.
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and annually thereafter.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license verification.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required within 3 years of start.
- EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit assignment.
Notes
- Weekend coverage is every other weekend.
- Must be willing to float to units of similar or lower acuity.
- Flu vaccine is mandatory unless medically or religiously exempted with facility approval.
