Work Schedule

  • 36 hours per week, typically 3 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Alternative shift options: 2x12 hour shifts or 2x8 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 10:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
  • On-call requirement: Two 24-hour calls per schedule (Monday-Friday), with 2 calls per week (7 PM–11 PM or 7 PM–7 AM) and one day per week available to stay late
  • Weekend requirement: Two 24-hour calls per schedule
  • Average patient ratio: 1:2
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • Locals not accepted
  • Pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date
  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval

Required Qualifications

  • CVOR Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national sex offender, national criminal, federal extended, and education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma required for internationally educated candidates
  • Education verification of highest level required
  • Sex offender search required
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required for fit testing)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Tdap highly preferred for certain specialties (not required here)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low titer
    • Varicella – positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician documented history; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B – positive titer, proof of vaccine series, or declination accepted
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–3/31)
    • COVID vaccine series preferred but not mandatory

Competency and Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start (minimum 85% score)
  • Color blind testing required for all candidates (minimum 80% score)
  • Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
    • Language Services Training
    • CAUTI Education Training
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
    • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
    • Stroke Education (not required for pediatric specialties or NICU)
    • CLABSI Prevention Training
    • Preventing Pressure Injury Training
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
    • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
    • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (not required for some campuses)
    • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
    • New Employee Orientation Module
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (not required for CVOR Tech)
    • Chaperone Policy Training
  • EPIC testing or training may be required depending on prior experience

References and Work History

  • One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU (charge nurse references not accepted)
  • For other units, standard reference requirements apply
  • Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Verification of last 7 years of employment required (attestations not accepted)
  • Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for CVOR Tech and related units
