Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 18 weeks
Job Description
- Fast-paced Ambulatory Surgery Center specializing in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and Eye surgeries
- 6 Operating Rooms with an average daily census of 45 patients
- Patient age groups include infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Typical shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- No call or weekend requirements
- Float to other nearby ambulatory surgery centers in Charlotte area rarely required
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- ENT surgery experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Driver's license
Preferred Skills
- Pediatric general surgery experience
- Bronchoscopy and ophthalmology surgical skills (cataract extraction/implant, corneal transplant, eye trauma, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy)
- Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
- Knowledge of infection control and laser safety
Orientation & Training
- Unit orientation: 40 hours
- Scrubs provided
- EPIC electronic health record system experience required
- Use of SBAR communication method
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Scheduling based on unit needs
- 7-day maximum for any requested time off after booking (RTO)
- Floating to other ambulatory surgery centers in the Charlotte area may be required but is rare
Patient Diagnoses & Procedures
- ENT surgeries
- Cataracts and ocular plastics
- Head and neck procedures
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
- Drug screening within 6 months of start (9-panel acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start; additional documentation required if history of positive TB
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Physical exam and references required per travel healthcare standards
- Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption with mask requirement
- Completion of facility-specific education modules and compliance training prior to start
- Photo ID and badge photo required before start date
- Proof of logging into facility’s learning management system (I-Learn) within 24 hours of account setup
Important Notes
- No return to origin (RTO) allowed after booking except as specified; excessive call-offs or RTO may result in cancellation
- Floating is limited to ambulatory surgery centers within the Charlotte area only
- Facility-specific policies and mandatory education must be completed and acknowledged before starting assignment
