Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology / Pain Management (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
Call Requirements:

  • On-call rotation Monday-Friday, 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM (rotated weekly)
  • Weekends and holidays on-call 24 hours (rotated among all nurses)
  • Occasional weekend day shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
    Time Off (RTO):
  • Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive
  • No time off on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday

Job Details

  • Mandatory floating within scope to Radiology and Pain departments as needed
  • Staff required to wear lead protection
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Scrub color: Navy blue
  • Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; includes SSN trace, nationwide and state searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; PPDs not accepted after 12/15/2025
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer
  • Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; testing initiated within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for PAPR use

Competency Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (required within 12 months prior to start)
  • Color blindness testing (required within 12 months prior to start)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam preferred
  • Annual skills checklist

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete PromisePoint EMR training modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • No holiday time off allowed; on-call coverage includes holidays
  • Floating is mandatory within Radiology and Pain departments
  • Local candidates preferred but not required

This position offers a challenging opportunity for experienced RNs with a background in Pain Management and Interventional Radiology, working in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center environment with a structured evening shift and on-call responsibilities.
