Registered Nurse (Oncology / Med-Surg Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Unit: Miller 5 – Oncology (Med-Surg Telemetry)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on an oncology Med-Surg Telemetry unit; chemotherapy certification preferred but not required.
• Responsibilities include blood products administration, IV antibiotics, anticoagulant infusions, chemotherapy, central line care and maintenance, IV starts, telemetry monitoring (no monitor techs), and tube feedings.
• Work schedule is Monday through Sunday with no block schedules.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• Experience in a large teaching facility and recent EPIC electronic medical record experience (within past 2 years) is mandatory.
• Reliable personal or rental vehicle transportation is strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation access.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in Vermont.
• Minimum of 1 year telemetry experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.

Orientation & Training

• Bi-weekly orientation sessions held on Mondays.
• Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approximately 8 hours, non-billable).
• Mandatory COVID-19 testing on Day 1 of assignment and adherence to facility COVID protocols.
• Annual completion of HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgments.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Complete and verifiable work history with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references from clinical assignments within the last 3 years.
• Skills checklist within the last 12 months.
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
• N95 fit test (annual).
• Immunizations and titers: Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B series or signed declination, Flu vaccine or approved exemption (seasonal), Pneumonia vaccine or declination if assigned to NY facility.
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest X-ray if positive TB.
• Drug screening as required.
• Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and background checks including Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check.
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, no logos or hats) required 2 weeks prior to start.
• Auto insurance proof required if using personal or rental vehicle.

Additional Notes

• No public transportation available; reliable transportation is essential.
• No block scheduling allowed.
• Must complete all facility-specific forms and attestations prior to start.
• Facility requires detailed submission of all employment history including bed count, EMR used, and facility type.
