Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5x8 hours)

Job Summary
This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity as a Sterile Processing Supervisor with responsibilities including supervision, department coordination, and sterile processing duties. The role involves floating between multiple sterile processing departments depending on unit needs.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership (30%)
- Directly supervise Lead Technicians, Tech I, II, III, and Non-Certified Technicians across all sterile processing areas (decontamination, prep/pack, sterilization, case carts, sterile storage).
- Assign daily staff tasks based on workload and priorities.
- Oversee instrument tracking systems, documentation, and inventory control.
- Collaborate on orientation and training plans.
Department Advancement and Expectations (30%)
- Coordinate daily sterile processing operations to meet surgical and procedural demands.
- Monitor tray turnaround times, instrument availability, and case cart readiness.
- Troubleshoot equipment, instrument, and workflow issues in real time.
- Ensure proper segregation of clean/dirty workflows and adherence to infection prevention practices.
- Ensure compliance with AAMI ST79, AORN guidelines, CDC recommendations, and regulatory standards.
Coordination and Management of Specialty Services (30%)
- Audit tray assembly accuracy, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling.
- Address service concerns and implement service recovery.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings related to instrumentation, workflow, and quality initiatives.
Sterile Processing Duties (10%)
- Monitor adherence to infection control, safety, and universal precautions.
- Organize, store, and distribute instruments, trays, and equipment.
- Prepare instrument trays and equipment for sterilization.
- Perform decontamination and sterilization of instruments, medical supplies, and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
- Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one travel assignment.
- Experience in Supervisor roles.
Certifications and Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Not required for this role.
- National certification in sterile processing (CBSPD and/or CRCST) is mandatory.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
- Physical assessment specific for sterile processors, completed and signed by a licensed provider within one year of start.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) and Complete Blood Count (CBC) with differential required due to chemical exposure risk.
- Annual TB questionnaire and negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination), Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, a vaccination declination form must be completed.
Background and Compliance
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and national registries.
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed.
- Proof of 2 clinical references required.
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers.
- Driver’s license and Social Security card copies required.
- E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US.
Additional Information
- No weekend shifts required; holiday rotation applies.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- Parking available nights and weekends with a one-time $20 parking pass.
- Travelers will be assigned to emergency response teams (Storm Teams) during hurricane season (June-November).
- Orientation includes mandatory completion of online modules prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home.
- A clear, passport-style photo is required for badge issuance before start.
