Unit Details
- Pediatric cardiac ICU setting
- Average daily census: 21
- Beds: 32
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Every other weekend required
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nebraska
- Pediatrics CVICU experience within the last year
- 2 years of Pediatrics CVICU experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Cardiac ICU experience
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
Clinical Experience / Unit Exposure
- Post-op open hearts
- Single ventricles
- Complex cardiac anatomy/physiology
- Heart transplant
- Heart failure
- Invasive cardiac monitoring, including CVP, ART, and RA
- ECMO and CRRT exposure or experience
- Vasopressors
- Cardiac drips
- Sedation drips
Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background check
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check
- HHS/OIG check
- Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry search
- Education verification
- Transcript or diploma accepted in place of education verification
- NURSYS verification
- State license verification
- National tech certification verification
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing
- Unit competency exam
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test within 12 months of start
- Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- TB questionnaire if there is a past positive TB result
- Measles, mumps, and rubella immunity documentation
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccine series
- Varicella immunity documentation
- Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption, if applicable
- 2 professional references within 2 years of start
- Skills checklist updated annually
