Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Shift:
- Day shift: 4 x 10-hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30), variable schedule
- Night shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Weekday scheduled shifts: 12 hours
- Weekday night call shifts: 8 hours (23:00 - 07:00)
- Weekend scheduled and call shifts: 12 hours
- Up to 6 shifts of call and/or weekend scheduled shifts per 6-week schedule
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
- No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred (AHA only)
- Other certifications may be relevant depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but are not explicitly required for this role
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid state nursing license with verification (NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start)
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
- Education verification as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity verification
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (year-round)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within the first week of starting
Competencies
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
- Competency exams with passing scores required (e.g., 80% for general competency, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
- Completion of required HealthStream modules by due date is mandatory
- References: Two references within the last 2 years showing 1 year in a comparable specialty; at least one must be supervisory within the last 12 months
