Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
• Shift:

  • Day shift: 4 x 10-hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30), variable schedule
  • Night shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Weekday scheduled shifts: 12 hours
  • Weekday night call shifts: 8 hours (23:00 - 07:00)
  • Weekend scheduled and call shifts: 12 hours
  • Up to 6 shifts of call and/or weekend scheduled shifts per 6-week schedule

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
• No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred (AHA only)
• Other certifications may be relevant depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but are not explicitly required for this role

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid state nursing license with verification (NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start)
• Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
• Education verification as applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity verification
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination
  • Varicella immunity or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (year-round)
• Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within the first week of starting

Competencies

• Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
• Competency exams with passing scores required (e.g., 80% for general competency, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation if applicable)

Additional Notes

• Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
• Completion of required HealthStream modules by due date is mandatory
• References: Two references within the last 2 years showing 1 year in a comparable specialty; at least one must be supervisory within the last 12 months
