Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30)
- On Call: 10-12 shifts per 4-week schedule, including 3-4 weekend on-call shifts (overnight and weekends, rotating)
- Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Documentation Systems: Sunrise, Allscripts, McKesson, SBAR
Specialty Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology
- Required Experience: Prior Interventional Radiology experience with Neuro Thrombectomies REQUIRED
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Fire Card (specific to Los Angeles)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) with physical, in-person portion (can pend at start if online version on file)
- Other certifications as applicable (PALS, NRP, EFM) depending on unit

- Renal Angiography and Artery Stent Placement
- Uterine Arterial Embolization
- Chest Tube Placement
- Lung Biopsy
- Pulmonary Angiography and Embolization
- Thoracentesis
- Central Venous Access/Port Placement
- Dialysis Graft Creation/Revision and Interventional
- Endovascular Interventions and Stent Graft Placement
- SVC/IVC Venography
- Thoracic Aortography
- Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography
- Medication administration including antihypertensives, emergency meds, thrombolytics
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Starting IVs
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) monitoring
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Pressure ulcer assessment and prevention
- Radiation and laser safety
- Sheath removal and monitoring
- Vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Ventilator monitoring
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Return to Office (RTO) must be submitted at time of submittal
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background check and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG updates
- Education verification required
- Pass/fail testing for Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required onsite
- State nursing license verification within 14 days prior to start
- Medication and competency exams with minimum passing scores (usually 80%)
- Facility-specific documents and trainings including Oracle modules and life safety measures
- Photo for badge with white background (not applicable for Per Diem)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming fitness for duty and communicable disease free
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with religious exemption process if applicable)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- TB test (negative TSPOT, Qgold, or 2 PPDs within 1 year)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 lifetime vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (3 dose series, positive titer, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative 7-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
References and Employment History
- Clinical candidates must have 2 professional references from manager level or above, validated within 2 years
- Employment application/resume required with at least 1 year of relevant experience and 7 years of work history if applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology RNs with strong procedural skills and certifications, ready to work in a fast-paced, specialized environment with rotating on-call responsibilities.
