Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Staffed Beds: 24
- Average Daily Census: 24
- Charting System: Epic
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
- Block Schedule Accommodation: No
- Local Radius Rule: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience Required: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience Required: Yes, minimum 1 year of travel experience required
- First-Timers Accepted: No
- Required Clinical Experience: Current Critical Care and Telemetry experience
Certifications & Licenses Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- EKG Course / Telemetry Test
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID
- Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, fingerprinting (if applicable), and various federal/state sanction lists
- Education verification of highest degree (transcript/diploma required)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including marijuana (required within 30 days prior to start)
- Physical exam: Statement of good health within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid 10 years, Tdap mandatory for certain units)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
- Varicella (vaccines, titer, or history)
- Flu vaccine required annually (with agency-approved exemptions)
- COVID vaccination strongly preferred (declinations accepted with agency form)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite on first day
- Various competency exams and annual updates required, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III)
- Color blind testing (within 60 days prior to start)
- Facility-specific orientation and training including Patient Care Orientation Class and Epic training if no recent experience
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start, including ethical conduct, drug and alcohol-free workplace policy, offender registration act, and information access agreements.
- References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years).
- Work history verification covering 10 years, including international positions if applicable.
- Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and aligned.
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with critical care and telemetry skills who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are willing to work night shifts on a 12-week travel contract.
