Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
  • Shift Hours: Varying start times between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM; end times between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: PET/CT scans may be performed on Saturdays if needed (e.g., equipment downtime or backlog)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
  • Facility Type: Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 865
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Teal top and black pants
  • Parking: Paid parking required nights and weekends only (one-time $20 parking pass)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in South Carolina (SCRQSA)
  • Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NMTCB(N) or ARRT(N) certification
  • NMTCB(CT) or ARRT(R) or ARRT(CT) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3) through a third-party vendor
  • Background checks including:
    • SSN trace
    • County and statewide criminal checks (including South Carolina)
    • Sex offender registry
    • National criminal background
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if verification pending
  • Primary source verification of active, unencumbered South Carolina license with no pending actions
  • Nursys verification for applicable licenses
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
    • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (August 1 - March 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules and OurDay platform training prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Radiation exposure attestation form must be completed prior to start
  • Agency must provide radiation badge and monthly or quarterly radiation exposure reports
  • Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November), especially August and September
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius

Additional Notes

  • Approval required for block scheduling prior to assignment but not guaranteed
  • Facility may require additional competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
  • All certifications must be current and not expire within 30 days of assignment start date
  • Sterile Processing Techs have additional physical assessment and lab requirements (not applicable to this role)
