Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule includes weekends; specific days will vary based on staffing needs
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Work every other holiday
- Shift: Mids (36 or 48 hours)
- Maximum 40 hours approved for time off
- Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience
- Experience requirements:
- Minimum 2 years at level 2, or
- Minimum 1 year at level 1, including some pediatric experience
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) — must have before start (pending submissions accepted)
License Requirements
- Valid Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to submit with license pending
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including at least 1 year within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients (at least 1 year Level 1 or 2 years Level 2 experience)
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and education verification
- Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl) within 2 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (required during flu season)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start attesting ability to meet job demands
- Professional appearance guidelines review and acknowledgment
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation (for adult inpatient RN positions)
