Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to perform respiratory therapy modalities in a progressive healthcare environment. The role involves managing complex life support systems and making critical patient care decisions across a wide range of patient ages, from neonatal to geriatric. The therapist is responsible for delivering quality prescribed therapy and maintaining accurate documentation.
Work Schedule
- Day shifts
- 3/12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend
- No call

Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in California
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Job Responsibilities
- Operate and manage respiratory care equipment and life support systems
- Perform patient assessments and deliver respiratory care per protocols and physician orders, including:
- Ventilator management and weaning (invasive and noninvasive)
- Oxygen administration
- Aerosolized medication delivery (MDI, Nebulizer)
- Hyperinflation therapy, incentive spirometry, IPPB
- Diagnostic procedures (bronchoscopy, blood gas analysis, sputum induction, bedside spirometry)
- Secretion management and chest physical therapy
- Patient monitoring (pulse oximetry, apnea monitors, conscious sedation)
- Airway management and cardiac support during codes
- Neonatal therapy and ventilatory care
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation of all therapy performed
- Maintain compliance with clinical and administrative policies
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families
- Participate in in-service education, staff meetings, and respond to Code Blue calls as directed
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and other regulatory screenings
- Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season
- TB screening and negative chest x-ray or equivalent testing annually
- Respiratory safety clearance annually
Additional Requirements
- Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps
- Unit-specific skills checklist (renewed annually)
- Completion of facility-specific documents and orientations prior to start
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)

- No prior travel experience explicitly required
- No call or floating duties
- Must be able to work every other weekend on 12-hour day shifts
