Registered Nurse – Transplant (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Weekdays with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
  • Float: Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
  • Key Skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, Epic documentation system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of transplant nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start
  • Professional references: 2 required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination)
  • TB testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSPOT within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
  • Fit mask test valid within 1 year of assignment end date (required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency & Training

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start (with remediation process if needed)
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • License verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

  • Dynamic and challenging work environment
  • Facility requires compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies
  • Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear before starting; pending results require attestation
