Registered Nurse – Med Surg Oncology (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Overview
- 12-hour shifts, rotating day and night (3 shifts per week)
- Shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks; changes based on staffing needs
- Patient population includes oncology patients requiring:
- Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy
- Care for soft tissue malignancies (diagnostics, chemotherapy, symptom management)
- Symptom management related to disease progression and comorbidities
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
- Use of specialized equipment:
- GE telemetry system (B450 monitors)
- Bladder scanner
- Alaris pumps
- Stryker beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
- Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
