Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Monroe, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Unit: 12-bed Level 1 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit with Level 1 nursery
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Schedule: Every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Call: Required
Holidays: May be required to work on holidays
Scrubs: Provided
Mask Fit Testing: Travelers must shave to ensure proper mask seal; no personal PAPRs or CAPRs allowed

Required Skills and Experience

Specialty: Labor & Delivery nursing, including LDRP, Level 1 Nursery, low-risk mother/baby care
Clinical skills: Antepartum care and procedures, NST, reflex checks, external fetal heart monitoring, cardiac monitoring and emergency care, fetal monitoring, IV therapy/phlebotomy, medication administration, APGAR scoring, pain management, postpartum care, triage
Experience: Minimum 1 year in Labor & Delivery
Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers accepted)
Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required

Required Certifications and Licenses

Registered Nurse license valid in Wisconsin or Compact License
BLS (Basic Life Support)
FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
AWHONN intermediate or advanced certification preferred
ACLS and PALS may be relevant but not explicitly required for this unit

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
Background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county and nationwide search, sex offender search
Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form required prior to start (state-specific)
Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD
Drug screen negative within 12 months
Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (must be renewed annually)
COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory
OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing
Fit testing completed onsite during first week of orientation; must provide fit test record to agency within two weeks of start
Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documents prior to or during orientation
Photo for badge (passport style, plain background) required
Confidentiality and security agreement, standards of ethical conduct, and relevant policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record system

Additional Notes

Candidates must complete all required modules assigned for their unit annually
Post-start orientation checklists must be completed and submitted within the first week
Glucometer assessment completed during orientation for RNs
Ivenix training eLearning module required prior to orientation for RNs at this location
Failure to comply with mask fit testing requirements will result in cancellation of assignment

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor & Delivery setting with a supportive team and structured orientation process. It is suitable for nurses with at least one year of L&D experience, including first-time travel nurses.
