Job Description

• Work in an acute care hospital with 266 staffed beds, located beachside.
• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM).
• Call requirements vary by department; flexibility is essential.
• Must be able to cover call shifts including:

  • 2 primary weekday calls (10:30 PM - 6:00 AM) in a 6-week cycle
  • 2 secondary weekday calls (10:30 PM - 6:00 AM)
  • 2 primary weekend calls (12-hour shifts, either 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM)
  • 2 secondary weekend calls (same 12-hour shift options)
• Must know at least one specialty other than cardiac.
• First-time travelers are not accepted.
• Facility uses Epic for charting.
• RN scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Parking available with associated costs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR nursing experience, with CVOR experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• Knowledge and experience in at least one other clinical specialty besides cardiac.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Social Security Card (as applicable).
• Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
• Education verification for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation.
• NURSYS license verification required.
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
• Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer, with declination accepted
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with declination accepted
  • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention protocols
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable.
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only).
• Fit mask testing required for travel starts; onsite testing available if no valid record within 1 year.
• Annual completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).

Additional Notes

• Pending licenses are not accepted.
• Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission.
• Facility may call off once per two-week pay period.
• Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background).
• Candidates must be able to complete Epic training modules as assigned.
• Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse in Santa Monica, CA. The role requires flexibility with call schedules, a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience, and current California RN licensure. Candidates must meet comprehensive health, background, and compliance requirements and be prepared to complete ongoing training and certifications. This position is not open to first-time travelers.
