Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Los Angeles, California
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Schedule: 6-8 shifts per month (4-5 weekdays and 1 weekend day)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Details

  • 4 procedure rooms (3 cath lab rooms, 1 dedicated EP lab)
  • Caseload: Approximately 3 cases per room
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Procedure Types:
    • Cardiac catheterization and interventions
    • Structural heart procedures (TAVR, Mitraclip, Watchman)
    • Peripheral vascular angiography and interventions
    • EP ablations and device implants
  • Scrubs provided

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
  • Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
  • Experience as an Electrophysiology Technician
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • Fluoroscopy Permit

Required Documentation and Compliance

Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days, including all counties lived/worked, SS trace, national criminal database, and sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated monthly

Health and Safety

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming freedom from communicable disease and ability to perform job duties without limitations
  • Negative TB test (TSPOT, QGold, or 2 PPDs) within 1 year
  • Drug screening: Negative 7-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
  • Required vaccinations or documented declinations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 lifetime vaccines)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 lifetime vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
    • COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • Fire Card specific to Los Angeles required (2-week grace period allowed after start)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (annual renewal required) if applicable

Competency Exams and Training

  • Pass/fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain clinical specialties (not specifically stated for Cath Lab Tech but may be applicable if cross-trained)
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Harassment prevention training (1 hour for non-supervisory clinical staff)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training with in-person component may be required for RNs in specific units (not explicitly required for Cath Lab Tech)

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Emergency contact form prior to start

  • Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
  • Photo for badge with white background, shoulders up, submitted by Tuesday prior to start

Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) documentation must be submitted prior to contract start
  • Oracle pre-start modules must be completed by 5 PM on the Monday the assignment begins
  • Facility-specific interim life safety measures required prior to start

This position offers a specialized opportunity for Cath Lab Technologists with structural heart experience to work in a high-volume adult and geriatric patient population with advanced cardiac and EP procedures. First-time travel techs are welcome.
