Location: Santa Rosa, California

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department serving patients of all ages and diagnoses.
- Facility is a Basic ED Level 3 semi/stroke receiving center (no trauma).
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: 4:1.
- Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care in an acute setting.
- Provide holistic and individualized care to assigned patients.
Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:00 to 06:30).
- Every other weekend rotation.
- No on-call requirement.
- Total hours per week: 36.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or ARC.
- Certification in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or ARC.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screenings.
- Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
- Full 7 years of verifiable work history with no gaps over 30 days.
- Two professional references within the last 3 years required.
Certifications and Exams
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work.
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: proof of immunity or vaccination.
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity or vaccination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov-April).
- NIH Stroke Certification (verify if required).
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion and signing of facility-required documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB screening questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days, renewed annually.
- Religious exemption forms required for facial hair (PAPR) or vaccine exemptions, subject to approval.
- Negative background check clearance required prior to start; conditional clearances handled case-by-case.
