Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (MS/Telemetry Unit)

Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on a Medical Surgical unit with Telemetry (Tele Techs are separate).
  • Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
  • Some weekends and holidays required.
  • Required skill: IV start.
  • EMR system: MEDITECH (experience not required).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
  • Proof of eligibility to work (I9, E-Verify).
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
  • Education verification or diploma if education cannot be verified.
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within last 12 months (instant acceptable).
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination accepted.
    • Negative TB test (PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 6 months prior to start; chest x-ray and annual questionnaire if previously positive.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer, 2 MMR vaccines, or declination.
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination.
    • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or declination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September to March).

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
  • Completion of skills checklist annually for applicable unit.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
  • Job description acknowledgment required.

Notes

  • Facility accepts agency-branded job descriptions.
  • Candidates requesting religious or medical exemptions for flu vaccine must complete facility-specific exemption forms with appropriate documentation.
  • If ACLS certification expires during assignment, renewal is mandatory to remain on schedule.
