Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)

Location: Normal, Illinois
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab.
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.
• Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment utilizing current technology and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
• Administer medications, prepare patients for procedures, manage post-operative care, perform IV venipuncture and blood administration.
• Document all nursing care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
• Provide direct patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
• Float to various inpatient units as needed.
• Delegate patient care tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
• Conduct hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and maintain patient communication boards.
• Prioritize patient safety by adhering to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
• Manage acute and chronic cardiac and pulmonary patient care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding care plans and discharge instructions.
• Maintain professional communication and handle conflict management within the team.
• Act as a resource and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1 year of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
• Experience in cardiac care
• Experience in pulmonary care
