Heart & Vascular Sonographer
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
Job Description
- Perform non-invasive ultrasound testing in vascular and echocardiography modalities.
- Follow established testing protocols to produce high-quality study images and data.
- Obtain patient history prior to each test and ensure proper documentation.
- Use ultrasound technology knowledge to assess if order revisions are needed and communicate accordingly.
- Explain testing procedures clearly to patients, family members, and hospital staff.
- Maintain good relationships with clients and coworkers.
- Schedule add-on and emergency exams efficiently to maintain workflow.
- Communicate with patient care areas to prepare and send patients timely.
- Maintain cleanliness and adequate supply stock in assigned areas.
- Report equipment maintenance needs and operate equipment safely.
- Follow quality control standards and participate in departmental process improvements and peer reviews.
- Stay current with testing protocols and complete required continuing education for licensure or certification.
- Comply with hospital and departmental safety, education, and in-service requirements.
- Attend department meetings and contribute to agenda responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of echocardiography (ECHO) experience.
- Advanced transthoracic echocardiography skills preferred.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to communicate effectively with hospital management, physicians, and technologists.
- Current knowledge of cardiac and/or vascular sonography technology and clinical advances.
- Working knowledge of accreditation, credentialing, and quality assurance procedures.
- Basic understanding of imager configuration, DICOM standards, networking, and medical records.
