Job Opportunity: Technician at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pennsylvania
Facility: UPMC Hamot
Hospital System: University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC)
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts
- Shift times: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- On-call coverage for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- 40 hours per week
Job Description
Position: EP and Cath Technician
- Perform imaging procedures independently with technical skill and judgment
- Demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Ensure correct patient preparation, equipment operation, and patient monitoring
- Practice radiation safety, including use of lead shielding and monitoring devices
- Document patient radiation exposure in electronic records
- Support aseptic technique and patient safety, including time-out procedures
- Function competently in the first assist role during procedures
- Administer contrast agents under physician direction
- Provide scheduled stand-by call coverage per system policy
- Maintain point of care testing standards and daily quality control for procedural devices
- Interact professionally and compassionately with patients and coworkers, fostering teamwork
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and reduce anxiety
- Properly identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocols
- Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols
- Document patient history and procedure details in electronic records
- Ensure all images are properly coded, tracked, and archived in PACS and electronic records
- Maintain continuing education and competency requirements
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred but not required
- One of the following certifications required:
- ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology
- ARRT Certificate
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
- Echocardiograph and Ultrasound certification
Clearances and Other Requirements
- Act 34 clearance (position-specific)
- Scrubs provided via facility scrub machine for both EP and Cath roles
- Parking available in multiple lots and street parking, though can be challenging
