Registered Nurse (IR RN) – Renton, Washington

Job Overview

• Position in Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology (IR) with additional duties in CT, Ultrasound, and MRI procedure areas.
• Hybrid OR room available; involvement with diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Average daily cases: 17 in Cath Lab, 22-23 including other areas.
• Recovery nurses care for patients in a 17-bed post-procedure area, including conscious sedation cases (bone marrow aspiration, bronchoscopies, cardioversions).
• Nurses may float voluntarily to other areas.

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Ventilator and pressor management skills necessary for procedure rooms.
• Must have no license issues related to medication diversion or endangerment (such issues lead to immediate contract cancellation).

Patient Types & Procedures

• Vascular, Neuro, Electrophysiology (EP), Cardiology, IR, Cath Lab patients.
• Procedures include diagnostic and interventional cath lab work (rotablator, shockwave), ports, G tubes, drains, nephrostomies, biliary drains, dialysis lines.
• EP procedures (ablations, device implantation, temporary pacemakers) assisted only if skills validated by manager.
• Anesthesia present on all EP cases.

Work Schedule & Call

• Procedural nurses: 3 shifts of 12 hours (7am-7pm) or option for 4 shifts of 10 hours (9am-7:30pm).
• Pre-procedure and recovery nurses: 4 shifts of 10 hours (noon-10:30pm or 2pm-12:30am).
• On call one night per week.
• Weekend call every 3rd or 4th weekend.
• Holiday call rotation: approximately one holiday per year.
• Call response time: 30 minutes for procedure nurses; 45 minutes for recovery nurses.

Orientation & Support

• 2 weeks of unit-specific orientation, length depends on traveler experience.
• Buddy call support for first 3-4 weeks.

Equipment & Technology

• Epic EMR, GE MACLab, Siemens X-ray, PACS.

Staffing & Team

• Cath Lab techs: 10 daily if fully staffed, 3 per room, with on-call coverage.
• Charge nurse and supervisor tech present.

Contract Length

• Approximately 14 weeks.

Location

• Renton, Washington (just outside Seattle).
