Respiratory Therapist (Respiratory Therapy)

Location: Peoria, Illinois Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift (0630-1900 or 1830-0700), 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS (AHA) and either RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) through NBRC
• Experience: Experience in a large (300+ bed) critical care facility
• Experience: Critical care experience, with no work at any facility in the system in the past year
• Licensure: Active Illinois license, or confirmation that the licensing application has been initiated

Preferred Qualifications

• RRT preferred over CRT

Application Requirements

• Clinician's middle initial
• Requested time off
• Must understand the facility is a drug-free campus and must produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Role Details

• Patient population: General medicine, intermediate care, and ICU patients
• Workload: About 26-28 treatments per day, based on the AARC point system
• Equipment: Primary ventilators are Servo U, Servo i, and LTV; Trilogy for BiPAP; ResMed S9 for CPAP; Fisher Paykel for heated high flow
• Team support: A respiratory manager, supervisor, or lead therapist is on every shift as a team lead who does not take an assignment. A hospitalist and an intensivist are available in house 24/7.
• Weekends: Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday, days and nights
• Holidays: Every other holiday
• Call: No call or standby. No floating within RT.
• Dress code: Any color scrubs; scrubs are not provided.

Orientation

• 12 non-billable orientation hours
• First 12 hours: electronic record training, vent review, IPV and specialty item review
• Second and third 12-hour days with a preceptor, then independent
