Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Overview

• 13-week contract
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Day shift

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State nursing license in good standing
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS

Unit Details

• Emergency department with 25 beds plus hallway spaces
• Patient ratio: 1:3 to 1:5
• Charge nurse is present but not assigned to travelers
• Nurse aides are available
• Tele skills needed
• Nurses must be able to read strips
• Drips and vents are used
• Hospitalist coverage is available
• Respiratory therapy is available 24/7
• No IV team
• No pharmacy coverage 24/7

Schedule and Operations

• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holidays
• Floating not required
• Floor-specific orientation provided
• Start times may vary: 7:00 AM, 11:00 AM, or 12:00 PM

Patient Population

• Emergency department serving all ages
• NYS designated stroke center
