Unit Details
- Department: L&D
- Beds/rooms: 9 LDR procedure rooms; 2 OR suites for C-sections; 1 PACU; 6 L&D triage rooms; 18-bed antepartum unit; 36 postpartum private rooms
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
- Last four digits of clinician's SSN
- Clinician's middle initial
- Requested time off
- Negative drug screen for all panels
- BLS
- NRP
- ACLS
- Completed advanced AWHONN EFM class
- Must be proficient in care of the high-risk OB patient
- Must be able to care for Magnesium drips and Insulin drips
- Must be able to circulate a cesarean section in OR and recover patient in PACU
- Must be proficient in baby care at both vaginal and cesarean delivery
- RN license
Preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in L&D
Clinical Details
- Common patient types: Pregnant patients, high-risk pregnant patients
- Common procedures: Vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries, cerclage placement
- RNs titrate drips
- Common titratable drips: Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin
- Floating: Postpartum and Antepartum units only
- No call requirement
- Every 3rd weekend
- Every other holiday
- 12-hour orientation
- Surgical scrubs are provided on unit
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and does not take an assignment
- House supervisor is present 24/7
- Labor hospitalist is in house 24/7
- Newborn hospitalists are in house daily
- NICU coverage is in house at night for emergencies
