36 hours per week
Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks; expect 25+ hours

Required Qualifications

2 full years of ER experience
Active BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and WA License
Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment

ER unit
33 beds/trauma bays, including 2 trauma bays
5 psych/seclusion rooms
Fast track: Yes
125-140 patients per day
Ratios: 3-4:1
Charge nurse available 24/7
ED Technicians serve as nurse aides/paramedics
Security/patient sitters available 24/7
Vents: Yes
ED physicians/mid-levels: Both
Lab draws: Yes
IV team available 24/7 and supports all hospital
RT available 24/7
Pharmacy coverage 0700-0300
Floor-specific orientation: 1 day

Schedule

Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
Holidays: Occasionally
Shifts: 1800-0630

Emergency patients including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and ACS

Float Scope

Primary assignment is St Joseph Medical Center
May float throughout Region Two if needed:
- St. Clare Hospital – Lakewood, WA
- St. Elizabeth Hospital – Enumclaw, WA
- St Joseph Medical Center – Tacoma, WA

Pros

Great schedule, got sent home early a lot, living in Tacoma is easy, commuting to work is a breeze, parking is free in the parking garage

Cons

Expected to float between main OR and surgery center. Cost of living is high.
