Location

  • Wheeling, West Virginia

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift

  • Nights, 12-hour shifts
  • Start time: 7:00 AM/PM
  • Must be ready to go by 6:45 AM/PM

Unit Overview

  • Intermediate Care Unit
  • 30 beds

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license
  • Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Clinical Expectations

  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Must be able to titrate drips, including amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, labetalol, nitro, and heparin
  • Must be able to float as needed to Tele or MedSurg
  • Must be flexible for holiday coverage if needed

Patient Population

  • Chest pain
  • Rule-out MI
  • CHF
  • Arrhythmias
  • Post pacer
  • Pre/post cath patients
  • Overflow intermediate-acuity patients
  • Patients on Tikosyn therapy

Work Environment

  • Ratios typically 1:5, with a goal of 1:4
  • May occasionally be 1:6
  • Self-scheduling is allowed if unit needs are met
  • Weekend shifts are required
  • Orientation includes 2 days with a preceptor before working independently
