Shift
- Nights, 12-hour shifts
- Start time: 7:00 AM/PM
- Must be ready to go by 6:45 AM/PM
Unit Overview
- Intermediate Care Unit
- 30 beds
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license
- Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
Clinical Expectations
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Must be able to titrate drips, including amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, labetalol, nitro, and heparin
- Must be able to float as needed to Tele or MedSurg
- Must be flexible for holiday coverage if needed
Patient Population
- Chest pain
- Rule-out MI
- CHF
- Arrhythmias
- Post pacer
- Pre/post cath patients
- Overflow intermediate-acuity patients
- Patients on Tikosyn therapy
Work Environment
- Ratios typically 1:5, with a goal of 1:4
- May occasionally be 1:6
- Self-scheduling is allowed if unit needs are met
- Weekend shifts are required
- Orientation includes 2 days with a preceptor before working independently
