Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking travel Registered Nurses for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit with a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool. The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI problems, diabetes, post-cath, and total joint replacements.


Required Qualifications

  • Current Arizona RN license
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
  • Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips; RN required to interpret and sign strips at least once per shift
  • Experience with CVA and TIA patients preferred
  • Experience with total joint replacement patients preferred
  • Cerner experience recommended (orientation is only one day)

Unit Details

  • Unit: Telemetry - Cardiac/Medical, 3rd Floor
  • Beds: 49
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
  • Nurse Aide ratio: 1:10-15
  • Common equipment: BiPAP, CPAP, breathing treatments
  • Drip management: No titration required; set rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips used
  • Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift hours: 7 AM to 7 PM
  • Scheduling: 4-week schedules with self-scheduling subject to manager approval
  • Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and an evening or 2 evenings and a day during Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving holidays
  • Call/standby: None

Additional Information

  • Orientation: 1 shift on the unit
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
  • Radius rule: Candidates must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within 50 miles at any related facilities in the past year

Traveler friendly, good ratios, great scheduling, decent providers, Uses tiger text to communicate with most doctors. Plenty of hiking activities. Close to Sedona, Flagstaff and Phoenix. 5:1 Med/tele and 3:1 PCU.

Cons

Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
