Travel RN Opportunity – Gastroenterology (Endoscopy)

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility Overview

  • Level III trauma center with 198 beds
  • Services include medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth center, cancer center, nephrology, pediatrics, behavioral health, day surgery, imaging, and lab testing
  • Accredited PCI, Mammography, and Laboratory services
  • Located in a scenic area with outdoor recreational opportunities

Position Details

  • Specialty: Gastroenterology (Pre/Intra/Post Procedure)
  • Role: RN (also Surgical Techs considered)
  • Unit: Endoscopy (Main Floor)
  • Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week guaranteed
  • Call: Weekend and evening on-call required
  • Patient Population: Adults, mid to high acuity
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Number of Openings: 3
  • Beds in Unit: 7
  • EHR System: Cerner
  • Equipment: Olympus

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Gastroenterology nursing
  • Must have intra-procedural level experience in gastroenterology procedures
  • Procedural Tech experience is a must
  • Must have a minimum 3.2 overall rating on skills checklist
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Critical Skills & Procedures Required

Must demonstrate competency in the following:

  • Biopsy (Hot and Cold)
  • Savary Dilatation
  • Balloon Dilatation
  • Variceal Banding
  • Therapeutic Injection, Polyp Raising, Tattooing
  • Foreign Body Retrieval (Roth net and Rat tooth)
  • Clip Application
  • Snare (Hot and Cold)
  • Prechel Pressure
  • ERCP procedures including:
    • Cannulization
    • Biliary Duct Dilation
    • Lithotripsy
    • Stent Placement
    • Sphincterotomy
    • Balloon Sweep
    • Basket Retrieval
    • Injection of Contrast
  • Endoscopic Hemostat
  • Argon Plasma Coagulation
  • Minnesota Tube

Additional Skills

  • Ability to describe steps to assist other team members proactively
  • Troubleshoot equipment and supplies

Float Requirements

  • May be required to float to PreOp if Endoscopy caseload is low

Education Requirements

  • RN degree for Registered Nurses
  • Certified Surgical Technology Program for Surgical Techs
